I have been AWOL for a few days because I went to my 40th High School Class Reunion in Mangum, OK on Thursday.
Don stayed home and took care of Abby and I took Mother with me. She arranged for us to stay with Uncle Orvis.
When we left Thursday afternoon the route was through Burns Flat, Sentinel, Lone Wolf, Lugert and then Mangum. Easy drive & lots of wheat in different stages of ripeness. Uncle Orvis was glad to see us and that evening I helped him with his computer & email.
Friday started the Alumni activities with a breakfast at the American Legion and the distribution of the Banquet tickets and t-shirts. When I arrived about 8:00 I was amazed that I didn't recognized hardly anyone. Finally Marsha McElroy walked in and I actually recognized her. I was so glad to see someone from my class. We talked for a while and decided to meet at Janice Parton's(Maxfield) about 5 pm and ride together to the Lodge.
Went and picked up Mom and Uncle Orvis and we headed to the cemeteries. First we went to Corinth Cemetery.
Directions to the cemetery are: Roads - E1510 & N2010 1/2 mile east or use 34.831288, -99.383662 in your gps.
Mother started the upkeep on this cemetery when her Mom asked her to. She raised money several years ago and had the fence built and painted. Someone to mow is hired each summer. An account was set up for donations to the cemetery and are made at the 1st National Bank in Mangum.
The is the headstone for my great great grandfather/grandmother. Joseph W. is my grandfather. The date on Artie L is wrong. His death should be 1967 instead of 1867.
Continued later. Gotta go to bed.
