Black Friday & Cyber Monday

What do these two days mean?  SHOPPING

Ricki and I spent a little time at the stores on Friday but we didn't get started until 10:00.  I was looking at TV's and bought a soft blanket for Abby and Ricki bought yarn for purses, a new coat & some christmas gifts for Chris and we both bought some slacks. I found a good deal on a TV at Walmart on NW Highway but they were already sold out.

Abby's new blanket

We didn't have to stand out in the cold or push our way through the doors so it wasn't as exciting but we had a lot of fun.  We went by to see mom on the way home.

Stacy left to go back to Ohio about 9:00 and got back home about 2:00 on Saturday.
The movers dropped off Tom and Judy's furniture at the cottage on Friday also.

Saturday Ricki and I had to take back the slacks we bought to Sam's so I was going to look for a TV there. Don and I had talked about it and he was warming up to the idea of the 40" Sony.  They had it at Sam's for $50 more and I bought it.  I thought that was what we had decided to do if I found it.  I called him as we were leaving the store excited to tell him and he wasn't excited. I guess I didn't get the message right.
Ricki and I hit a couple more stores to check out prices, Harry's and Best Buy but they were higher or the same price.  Took it home and expected to take it back that afternoon.  It sat for a while and we talked about it some more.  He finally asked if I wanted to help him set it up.

Can you see the rabbit ears next to the TV.  We don't have HD tv through the cable, but he can get the HD station with the rabbit ears on the main stations.  The picture it great.

Now I have to get that other old TV and cabinet out of there. Of course he is resisting on this too!!!

I also have to move the pictures and the things on the cabinet. That will give me something to do!

Thinking about you today Dad. We lost you thirteen years ago. I think about you often and one of the times recently was over Thanksgiving when I made one of your favorites, apple and peanut salad.  Miss ya and love ya!

Ready! Set! Cook!

I've been thinking about what I want to cook for Thanksgiving dinner.

I think I will have ten for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Mom, Ricki, John, Chris, Mac, Mary, Morgan, Stacy, Don, & me, & maybe Ray and Lacie and their two kids.

I usually start out with about twenty different dishes I want to make and then have to narrow it down seven or eight.  That is hard because I want to make it all.

Today I got down to business and decided to do some of the preliminary cooking.
  • Bought more groceries

  • Cooked pumpkin bread for pumpkin bread pudding

  • Made cornbread for dressing
  • Cut up celery & onions for dressing

  • Washed lots of dishes

Stacy went to Tulsa to visit with Cathy & the girls and came back tonight.

Temperatures were 76 today and 77 yesterday. Not a lot like November but a cold front comes in Wednesday night and it is to get cold and windy. If it is warm tomorrow I think we may try to put up the Christmas lights.
