Life after the Walk!

I think I have recovered from the walk and getting back to normal.

Except for my fat lip with a fever blister. I hate these things.

For two days now I have been popping L-Lysine pills and applying abreva.  Yesterday I think I took 12 lysine pills and it keep it from swelling huge.  It was going to be a really big one.  This morning I took 6 more and I will take 4 more when I go to bed.  It has helped but it will have a scab when it goes down.

I knew I was probably going to get one from the walk so I took them the weekend of the walk. I didn't get one so I thought I had escaped it. I quit taking them after the walk. Well I woke up with it yesterday after a week.

Surprise, Surprise!!

Tuesday, Don and I went over to Mom's for her birthday celebration with the Assisted Living group.  They have a monthly celebration in the dining room with cake & entertainment. They had a blue grass religious group from a Midwest City church that performed about 10 songs. We all enjoyed it.  Here are some of the pictures.  She looked really good.  Can't believe she will be 90 on Saturday.

She had four friends come over today to visit, laugh and talk.  I can hear in her voice she is feeling better. Her back gets tired really fast and she needs to take an aleve each day and that helps but sometimes she forgets.

My annual mammogram was yesterday and everything looked fine.  Talked to a counselor because I was considered high risk with mom having had breast cancer.  She asked a lot of questions and entered them into some formula and the results said that I was ranked as just having an average risk of breast cancer, not high risk.  Mainly because mother had her cancer post menopause. I only had about an 8% risk of having breast cancer. One thing that brought up my risk was by not having any children.  This was good news.

I also found out it had been 11 yrs since I had a bone density test. So scheduled one for next Wednesday.

Don & I met with the home & termite inspectors at Tom & Judy Harned's(John's parents) new house today.  Most things checked out good. Just a few problems with windows and water leaks.  Looks like they will be moving to OKC at Thanksgiving. John & Ricki will coming after that.

Time to start planning for Thanksgiving dinner.  Need to start that tomorrow.
