The Good and the Bad

I’ll start with the bad.  Today was a hard day and probably started from my staying up until 1:30 last night finishing my blog.  When I got up I could tell the right side of my back had slipped.  I don’t think I even woke up but went ahead drove to pickleball.  Couldn’t bend or reach but I was hoping my back would warm up and be OK.  It didn’t.  So when I got home called the chiropractor and got appointment for the afternoon.

Mom had an appointment with her chiropractor in the early afternoon so after I took her I went in and I think it feels better but will take a couple of days to find out for sure. Doc said to not lift anything or twist the back for a while. Like I can do that.  I hate back pain!!

But the back will get to rest for a while because in the morning I am going in for a breast biopsy. I went in last Tues for a mammogram and then they called me in to take another mammogram and an ultrasound.  Doc said the mammogram didn’t show anything this time but the ultrasound did.  She said she wasn’t too worried about it but would rather be safe than sorry.  So doing it tomorrow so the results will be back by Friday.  They will send me home with a couple of ice packs and should be inactive until after Christmas.  That will be hard.  Probably will gain 10 lbs.

Oh well my shoulder needs the rest too.  I think I am falling apart.

Enough of the bad news, now let me tell you about the Christmas parties this last week.

First, I got together with my Grant teacher friends last week.IMG_4988IMG_4989IMG_4990We had a favorite Mexican fast food restaurant that we got lunch at when we taught at Grant. That’s what we had to eat tonight.  Two in the group didn’t get to come to our Christmas gathering  but this is the group that went to TX this past summer. Love these girls through thick or thin.  We have had a few divorces, marriages, births, deaths, & lots of heartache and challenges. But they would be next to me in a second if I needed them.  That’s what a friend is!!!

Second event, a couple in our neighborhood had a Christmas Brunch on Saturday for about twenty of the neighbors. She is the one second from left.  She and her husband are gourmet chefs and the food was delicious.  IMG_0046IMG_0047IMG_0049

Third event, Pickleball Covered dish Christmas Party with Dirty Santa.  Terri and Don Stanek were the host.  As you went in the door everyone had to choose a hat from Terri’s collection and we wore them all night.  It was a hoot!

The rules for Dirty Santa were explained by Don Stanek. His wife is always the entertainment for the evening.  She always keeps us in stitches all night long with her comic relief. She is GOOD!IMG_0091IMG_0098IMG_0104IMG_0105IMG_0081IMG_0106IMG_0107

I was modeling my hat!  Enjoyed the night with new friends that I have made in the last year with pickleball.  Last year at this time we had 5 playing in OKC and we now have about 25.  It’s growing!

Hope you enjoyed reading about my Christmas activities.  Just to let you know I haven’t even decorated the house yet and probably not going to get it done. I think that is the first time ever.

Mac’s family, Ricki’s and mine with mother are going to Epworth to eat at the Christmas Buffet!! No cooking!  HOHOHO   Merry Christmas
