He went without me this time because I am planning a trip with a group of my girlfriends next week and I am going to wait until we get back to head out. I plan on leaving the 19th.
We packed him up over the weekend and he and Abby left on Tuesday morning.
Abby has her bed all set up.
He made it to Ruidoso after about 11 hours. They took it slow and made lots of stops. He also had a close encounter with a deer on the interstate right before he got to the TX line. Those deer are wanting to get to know him lately.
When he got to Ruidoso and turned on the water he found that he had leaks under the house. He knew to watch for them because Ruidoso had some -30 degree temps in Feb and the town had some major problems with pipes breaking in homes. With most of the homes being empty at the time they had brought the National Guard in to turn off all water meters at the main lines for anyone that wasn't full time residents.
We thought we had winterize the house by draining the pipes, putting antifreeze in the drains & toilets and turning the water off to the house. We thought we wouldn't have any problems.
Wrong!! Don was able to get a plumber to come in on Wed and he found 9 leaks under the house, 2 inside the house, 1 toilet broken and the water turnoff didn't work. No wonder the pipes broke!
No telling what kind of a plumbing bill we will have but it is much better than Don trying to do it himself. The plumbers haven't finished yet. They haven't come back to finish yet. Don has kept me update by phone.
Don Denson came and got mother on Wednesday so she could go to Raigen's graduation last night in Burnett, TX. Lori and her family were coming in for the weekend & Kenna wanted mom to be with everyone. Congrats Raigen!! Great Job.
I truly do miss Don and Abby but I have to admit I was looking forward to not being on Don's meal and time schedule for a few days.
I have been busy since they left. I have cleaned out my clothes and craft room closets, at least gotten started on them. Had the girlfriends over for dinner and last minute planning on our trip to New Braunfels, TX.
I met these girls when I started teaching 35 yrs ago. We have gone through a lot together in those 35 years.
Ricki and I have been walking in the morning, got pedicures & manicures yesterday and spending some time at the pool.
I'm getting pretty behind in my blog post. I still have pictures from Easter and our trip to San Francisco. Hopefully I will get those done soon.
