Busy last two week in Ruidoso

We are heading home to Edmond on Wed, Sept 29th. We have had a great time this summer but I am looking forward to getting back home.

The last two weeks have been extremely busy. Some of our activities were:
  • Dinner at Ora Marie's for red beans and rice on Tuesday night. She is 83yrs old I think and has had experiences that she loves to talk about.
  • Picked Abby up at the vet last Wed.. Her diagnose was a bad ear infection with lots of dirt and wax in her ears that had to be cleaned out. She also had 4 more acupuncture treatments. Doing much better now. The ramps Don made didn't work. We are watching her better this time.
  • Party after Pickleball Thur night at Neva and Jim's house. Sharon and Dan Allen came over after party to play Rummikub.
  • Friday our 28th wedding anniversary, garage sales,  walked 6 miles, lunch at K-Bob's & played Mexican Train with Thena and Elree on Friday night.
  • Saturday - Garage sales (bought patio table and chairs and rug for living room)with Jan, Paula, Raymond and Buffy(Raymond's daughter), Pickleball till noon then went with Sharon & Dan to White Oaks to the cemetery to hunt ghost and a beer at the "No Scrum Allowed Saloon" on the way home went through Carrizozo to have a green chili hamburger at the Outpost & a pool game, then went over to their house for Rummikub.

Don's motorscooter accident!

Today was a little too exciting for me.

I started walking about 8:00, I had 13 miles to walk. I was going to meet Don at the pickleball court about noon. I got a call from him about 9:00 and he asked where I was and said he needed some help.  After asking several questions I finally got out of him that he had had an accident on the scooter. I was walking with a friend so we walked to her car and she brought me home.

Summary of the Accident:
Don started to pickletball and was about 1/2 mile from the house going east into the sun. He was going about 15 miles an hour downhill with the glare of the sun in his eyes and didn't see the deer in the road about 10 ft in front of him.  He didn't hit it but skidded about 4 ft to the right and the scooter fell over to the left on him. His ankle was under the scooter and he landed on his elbow bone and shoulder.  Here of the pics!

He got the scooter off of himself and drove it back home and then called me. They took xrays and nothing was broken. Thanks goodness!

After they cleaned it up, decided their wasn't enough skin left to stitch up. They butterflied it with tape, gave him a tentinus shot, antibiotics and sent us home.

He was bleeding really bad and has all day. His shoe wasn't red before.
Scooter has some damage on the left side mirror, left turn signal, front left fender.  Minimal damage to machine. Lots more damage to human.

Hope he feels better tomorrow.  I got 6 more miles in tonight.

Now to Abby.  We were suppose to pick her up at the vet's on Saturday. When we called she suggested we leave her until Monday.  Don called today (Mon) and she wanted to keep her another night. Beginning to wonder if Abby is really really bad or maybe this vet doesn't know what she is doing.  We are picking her up tomorrow for sure.  I hope.  Really miss that little girl around here.  Don made a couple of ramps for the bed and couch for her to use.  Hope she will use them and not jump up and down. Her parents will have to do a better job at keeping her inactive while her back heals this time.

I've found a girl (Sharon Allen) that will walk pretty good distances with me.  She is a pickleballer and walked 9 miles on Sunday and about 7 1/2 today.  That makes that time go a lot faster. She lives in McKinney, TX.   We went over to her house on Saturday night with several of more of their friends and had drinks, snacks, pizza, desert and rummikub. Fun time!
Gotta have a better day tomorrow!!

Abby is at the vet again tonight. She hasn't had a very good summer. Yesterday she shook her head every 10 seconds so I decided she must have an ear infection. When she got up this morning she didn't poop, eat and was walking strange.

We went on to one garage sale and when we got back home she had eaten, was running around and pooped when I took her out. She was back to normal. But it being Friday I felt like she needed to go to the vet and be checked out.

I already had a date with a friend to walk at 9:00 so Don took her to the vet in Capitan. The vet said her ears looked a little red and they needed the hair plucked out but she was afraid that she had re-injured her back. Don told her to keep her over night and give her a couple of acupuncture treatments. She was going to treat for ear infection and back problems. Pick her up tomorrow.

I had lunch with Paula and Jan at the Blue Goose Cafe. We try to go out for a lunch and shopping at least once during the summer. We nearly didn't get around to it. Great chicken salad sandwiches!!

Then we went shopping at Lots of Stuff, Inkahoots, Chartreuse Moose, & Brunells. Jan was the only one that bought anything and she got some 5 finger shoes.

I had a great day with the girls and shopping.

This is the weekend for the Golden Aspen Motorcycle Rally. The town grows by about 40,000 tourist and it is very loud.

I have 17 miles to walk on Sunday and 13 miles on Monday. That's a lot!!!
